How to prepare for your Headshot Session?
To make your time in the studio efficent we will meet or have a phone- or zoom call! I need to have a clear understanding about what you want to attract and to whom you want to communicate (recruiters, potential clients, colleagues, model agencies, actor agencies).
Adjust your attitude from “oh no a headshot” to “how fun it will be to get new headshots”. Think about the new opportunities you will get when recruiters or future employees see your headshot and see right away your competence and your approachable nature. Headshots are cool now!
What to wear?
The best advice I can give is, wear something you feel attractive and good about yourself. Something you would greet people in or wear as a speaker in front of crowds.
Solid color shirts without pattern and logos work best, since they don’t distract from you expression. White, grey, black or a neutral tone, are my favorites.
Snug fitting clothing photographs best on all body types.
Be sure it is freshly laundered and pressed. Bring it to your session and change on arrival to avoid creating creases on route. Bring as many shirts as you like to your session.
Avoid large pieces of jewelry (unless it’s a part of your brand). Small earrings or studs are okay. Anything else can be distracting in your images. If in doubt, bring multiple pairs to your appointment.
Hair- and Make Up
Book a Hair- and Make Up specialist! That’s my first advice! Don’t try to do it by yourself. You invest in your headshots. They represent you in social media and on your website, maybe even as print in advertising material. Don’t save on the wrong detail! It takes the viewer just one second to judge you. One second for getting a shot at your dream position or not! Think about it!
